It is with deep gratitude that I offer the testimony of my healing in Christian Science. Over sixteen years ago it healed me of very severe neurasthenia of more than three years' standing, which brought with it insomnia and many accompanying ills. I had worked very hard during my four years of college life, and in spite of feeling very exhausted and ill the entire summer after my graduation, I undertook, the following September, to fill a position as teacher in a high school in a neighboring city. Supported, as I felt I was, only by a sense of duty and will-power, I broke down completely in health the following March. So severe was my case that most of the next three years was spent in sanitariums in the vain search for health.
At the end of this time, hopeless and unimproved, my parents financially embarrassed by reason of the long expense, I turned to Christian Science. Even then, after all my suffering, I thought I desired only its physical efficacy; but the patient practitioner worked on, dissolving with love the pride, rebellion, and prejudice that stood in my path, until at the end of three months there had happened to me the most wonderful thing that can happen to any human being,—I had discovered in some measure the real nature of God and man; and, so discovering, I was healed.
As one walking toward the sunrise loses himself in its grandeur and unfolding beauty, and forgets the clouds that are behind, so has that long illness vanished from my thought, and I seldom think of it except to give grateful testimony for the healing. It is for the complete spiritual healing and regeneration I am still most earnestly striving.
