My gratitude for Christian Science...

From the October 1923 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My gratitude for Christian Science knows no bounds. By nature logical, I could find no satisfaction in mere theories about religion which I could not personally prove; so it was only about ten years ago that I found the solution to the religious problem in the teachings of Christian Science,—a practical, demonstrable religion, applicable to the problems of our daily life. At that time my attention was called to this beautiful new-old religion by the wonderful healing, after months of invalidism, of my dear mother, who I am convinced, were it not for Christian Science, would not be with us to-day. Since that time, as my understanding of this great truth has grown, divine Love has become my only physician and Christian Science my only medicine; and I have each succeeding year been able to demonstrate more of health, happiness, and harmony for myself and my family. I am most grateful to state that this last year has been the healthiest and the happiest of my life.

Jesus' promise, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," has been proved true numberless times in my case. Knowing the truth about God and man, and their relation to each other, has made me free from fear in various forms: fear of dental work, which was formerly a veritable nightmare; fear of so-called contagious diseases; and fear for the health and welfare of my children in my absence.

Through applying my understanding of Christian Science, I have been healed of homesickness; my eyes, which formerly gave me a great deal of trouble, have improved tremendously; also, various children's ailments have been met and overcome most harmoniously. I have also experienced most wonderful help from Christian Science treatment given during childbirth.

I cannot be grateful enough to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her discovery of Christian Science, this "law of God" (Rudimental Divine Science, p. 1), which has made all these things possible. Another cause for deep gratitude is the privilege of class instruction in Christian Science, which came to me just when most needed to bring order into my understanding of this wonderful teaching; also to teach me patience regarding as yet unsolved problems, and reliance on the Master's promise, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." I thank God for Christian Science, and am resolved to continue in my endeavor to live my gratitude for this wonderful healing truth, and to prove it by my works.—
