Before seeking physical healing in Christian Science in the year 1911, I had all my life been subject to colds. For a period of about six years prior to that time I was seldom without a severe cold, accompanied by a very bad cough. A short time after that event, healing was manifested, and I was freed from the former condition. I was also quickly healed of chronic headache and extreme nervousness. These are but a few of the physical benefits I have received from Christian Science; and while I am deeply grateful for physical healing, I am more grateful for the great joy of being able to know God aright, and to prove that I know Him aright by the "signs following,"—the overcoming of sickness and error of belief manifested in faults of disposition, and the clearer understanding of Truth that is being brought to light in my consciousness.
God is indeed good, for He has given this perfect gift of His infinite love, Christian Science, to humanity in this age to heal its sore wounds. Through the teaching of Christian Science I am able to love and revere our great Way-shower, Jesus the Christ, more than I was ever capable of doing before, because I understand his life and work for humanity better. Through the illumination shed upon his life and teachings by "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which reveals the spiritual meaning of the Scriptures, I am learning to tread, however feebly, in the path our Master trod, and to find the peace "which passeth all understanding"—the peace the world can neither give nor take away.
To Mrs. Eddy my heart goes out in loving gratitude, because it is through her purity of thought and unselfed love and devotion to God and to her fellow-men that all these blessings have been made possible of attainment by me and by all who will accept the message of divine Love. I am grateful for the loving aid of practitioners in time of need, and for the help received from all those everywhere who are demonstrating the truth of Christian Science. As Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 206): "In the scientific relation of God to man, we find that whatever blesses one blesses all." I deeply appreciate the help received from our periodicals and from the study of the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly.
