The privilege of being a student of the inspired writings of Mary Baker Eddy has brought to me the only understanding of God I have. Since I never thought I needed God until I became "incurably" ill, I can now see how important it is for religion to include the command of Christ Jesus to "heal the sick," else, when I reached "man's extremity," I should not have found it to be "God's opportunity," as revealed in Christian Science. So I took up the study of Christian Science only for physical healing; and I can testify now that it healed me positively of diseases, such as chronic headache, lumbago, rheumatism, indigestion, hernia, as well as of cigarette smoking, a habit which had bound me for twenty-five years. Most of these healings were brought about through the better understanding I gained by reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. In due time I was led to see that physical disease had been healed for me, but I had only made a beginning; it was evident that study for the future was to be for the renewing of the mind, and I am daily striving to work out my salvation along this path.
