For more than seven years Christian Science...

From the November 1924 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For more than seven years Christian Science has been my only physician, counselor, and comforter. It does more than heal sickness: it annihilates evil, discord, and inharmony of every kind. Christian Science has healed me of sorrow and resentment. This healing has indeed meant much to me.

While my son was trying to fly a kite from the roof of an apartment house, in his eagerness to raise the kite he ran backward over the edge of the roof, breaking his arm. A Christian Science practitioner was called immediately; and there was no pain. Later the boy's father, becoming alarmed, asked me to have a surgeon set the bones. After an examination had been made and X-ray photographs taken, I was informed my son would never have the normal use of his arm. The surgeons set the bones, however, and placed the arm in a cast. When the cast was removed, the condition had not improved. The physician ordered more X-ray pictures to be taken, saying an operation would be necessary. To this I would not consent. I asked the practitioner to continue the work; which she lovingly and faithfully did until the child was perfectly healed through the application of Christian Science. During the whole time he had the normal use of his arm. This happened three years ago. It has since been necessary for him to pass a physical examination, and the report of the physician read, "Splendid physical condition."

I have been healed of blood poisoning, lockjaw, throat trouble, severe headaches, and many other discordant conditions. Christian Science is teaching me how to be a better woman, a better wife and mother, and a better citizen. My earnest desire is to become a better Christian Scientist and to be accounted worthy to touch the hem of Truth's garment, which our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has revealed to me and to all mankind. I am grateful for the privilege of membership in The Mother Church and a branch church; also for class instruction.—
