Testimonies of Healing

It is about twelve years since I became...

From the November 1924 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is about twelve years since I became interested in Christian Science. At that time I was a physical and mental wreck from sickness and suffering, which I had endured most of the time from my birth. I was supposed to have inherited weaknesses and troubles from a very delicate mother; and as the years passed, I seemed to manifest many of the ills that she had had. I had submitted to several operations and "suffered many things of many physicians" (who did the best they could), spending much time and money in sanitariums and hospitals, but was "nothing bettered."

Then a friend persuaded me to call on a Christian Science practitioner and have a talk with her. I did so, and was at once given such hope and courage that in a few days I began having treatment, which resulted in the healing of what seemed at that time my worst trouble, hernia in the abdomen, the result of a capital operation. This healing came very quickly, in less than a week. Gradually other troubles left me, such as constipation, neuralgic headaches, and constant colds with sores on my lips and small boils in my nose. I was also healed of asthma and bronchitis of more than twenty years' standing; but it took three years to eradicate the erroneous thought back of this difficulty. Many other healings, too numerous to mention, have come to me.

I am thankful for all these healings, but still more thankful for the spiritual growth and to realize that we have only the inheritance of good. I thank God daily for His goodness to me and mine, and that I was led, although through great suffering, to this wonderful truth, given to us by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. I appreciate the kindness of the practitioner, who lovingly and patiently led me over paths which often seemed very rugged, but always away from matter to Spirit, and from person to divine Principle. I cannot find words to express the gratitude I feel for having been led to Christian Science, and for the good it is doing for the world. I rejoice in membership in The Mother Church and also in a branch church, as well as for the great privilege of having had class instruction.—
