When my eyes were first opened to the truth as taught in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I experienced the healing of an astigmatic condition of the eyes, and was enabled to put aside my glasses. For several years I was a loyal student of Mrs. Eddy's works; but spurious literature was put into my hands, and slowly a mist came over my consciousness—and I again was forced to wear glasses. It was a long time before I saw how I was straying from the light; but one day, when the darkest hour had come, I turned to a loving, loyal practitioner for light. She quickly showed me that spurious literature is darkness; and with the light I again was enabled to cast aside my glasses and rejoice in the lesson I had learned.
Needless to say, I am humbly grateful to God, and to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her clear exposition of Truth as given in her works; "grateful for merited rebuke" (Science and Health, p. 9); and also for the privilege of being a member of the branch church of this city and engaging in the activities of Christian Science work.— E.
