At the time Christian Science was recommended to me I was suffering from inflammatory rheumatism for which the doctors could give me no relief. Immediately after Christian Science treatments were started I felt much better in every way, and was soon completely healed. Shortly thereafter a child was born, and when I compare this birth with a previous experience without Christian Science, I feel very thankful.
I knew then that Christian Science was what I wanted. I was told it was for me to know and study. But how could I do this when I did not understand English? A copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was, however, purchased, and with the aid of a dictionary I started my search for Truth. On page 326 of Science and Health we read: "Working and praying with true motives, your Father will open the way." My progress was slow, and many dark hours were experienced; but I held to those words, and with the help of a practitioner the mist of material sense vanished, and for the first time I realized what the words of Jesus mean, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
