Testimonies of Healing

I deem it a duty gratefully to...

From the December 1924 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I deem it a duty gratefully to acknowledge a healing which took place from an attack of influenza, preceded by a heavy fall on the ice last winter. At that time I was living where I was surrounded by medical thought and great fear of this particular phase of disease. Therefore, it was considered best for me to go to the Christian Science sanatorium. I was removed there, and remained several weeks. It would be impossible for me to tell how the loving, cheerful, tender thought there aided in my recovery. These few weeks gave me the opportunity for study that I had so sorely needed; and need I say that with the loving help of a practitioner I escaped the slow convalescence and weeks of weakness that usually follow this disease under medical treatment? After returning to my hotel, I found a sense of deafness had to be overcome. I could not hear the clock tick when close beside it; but with faithful study and application of the truth, as I understand it, my hearing was fully restored. I was grateful for this proof of Truth's power to heal deafness; for I have always felt that divine Love knows error by no name, and that deafness can be destroyed just as any other phase of error.

At the sanatorium the most apparent errors become unreal; and the guests are a happy family, rejoicing in the truth. During my stay there, at a Wednesday evening meeting I attempted to sing the hymns, but error suggested I would never be able to sing again. Truth, however, promptly destroyed that suggestion; and in a short time I was able to sing, and had also recovered my speaking voice, so that later I was able to give my testimony in The Mother Church. It is needless to say that I am grateful for some knowledge of Christian Science. It has healed me of many phases of evil; it has given me courage to face discouragement, doubt, and fear; it has been to me a very present help in time of trouble. I am grateful to God, the Giver of all good; to the loving Master, the Way-shower; and to our beloved Leader, who was the one through whom God's greatest gift—Christian Science—came to this day and generation.—
