In the fall of 1907, I was taken ill with a lame back. I did not think of going to a physician for help, but thought to work it out through physical culture. I attempted this until the following May. Not being any better, but much worse, I then asked a friend for the name of a Christian Science practitioner. He kindly gave me the names of two. I selected one of them and went to that one for help, saying to him, "When you are through with this treatment I will visit the Reading Room and purchase Science and Health and help you all I can." After the treatment was finished I therefore purchased "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Upon reaching the sidewalk I felt the muscles in my back relaxing and a great sense of peace and happiness coming over me. This was an instantaneous healing of rheumatism; and it was followed by a spiritual uplift. I then commenced reading Science and Health to heal myself of the tobacco habit. This was accomplished in a short time. Then followed the healing of constipation, indigestion, sore throat, and susceptibility to atmospherical changes.
These healings have all been permanent and are only a few of the proofs I have had of the efficacy of the healing power of Christian Science. But greater than all else to me is the joy of knowing God as He is revealed in Christian Science. I indeed owe much to our revered Leader, who endured trials and privations that she might reveal to us the healing power of God taught in the Bible.— Rome, New York.
