Since childhood manifold blessings have come to me through Christian Science. The teachings in the Sunday school stand out clearly. Here I was taught the truth from the Scriptures, the simpler meanings of divine Principle, and I first learned the value of the Christian Science Lesson-Sermons. This spiritual education helped me in my school work. At the close of the first semester, it had seemed necessary for me to leave high school. I studied during the evenings, but could not find time for my algebra. At the end of the year, I was permitted to take the examination with my classmates. During the test in algebra I became so discouraged that it seemed impossible to solve any of the problems. I bowed my head in prayer, and the realization came that God is Mind, and that man in God's image and likeness reflects this Mind. I turned to my paper. The way to work out the problems came, as if written before my eyes. Thus the power of divine Principle overcame discouragement and a limited sense. I passed all my examinations.
A few years later, while I was attending college, a disease which is considered very contagious and dangerous by physicians, broke out among the students. Because the symptoms of the disease had made their appearance upon me, I was advised by the faculty to go home at once. This I did. As a result of my study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the help of a practitioner, I returned to my classes in three weeks, completely healed. I have always been very grateful for the Christ, Truth, which "healeth all thy diseases," and earnestly wished that those who returned later, and with many scars, might have experienced healing in Christian Science.
Through the study and application of Christian Science, headache, backache, and colds, which once seemed my inseparable companions, have all disappeared. For these physical healings I am very grateful; but I am still more grateful for the spiritual regeneration which comes through . the study of Mrs. Eddy's writings. As in my school course I went higher by strictly following the laws and rules taught therein, so in my passage from sense to Soul I have advanced in proportion to my demonstration of the divine Principle, according to the rules of Christian Science.— Saco, Maine.
