When I turned to Christian Science for healing it was at a time of great need, when everything else had failed. I had been ill many years, at times seriously so; then I would be better for a while, but never free from suffering. We had employed many physicians and surgeons, but the trouble, an internal difficulty, always returned. I also suffered from neuralgia, rheumatism, insomnia, and minor ailments. During severe attacks I had been given so many drugs and opiates that I could not sleep without one, and my condition became such that I had to take them all the time. Then when I found I could not stop taking them, I was completely discouraged and did not want to live. I had even tried to take my life, and was comtemplating doing so again when a kind neighbor told me she had been wonderfully healed through Christian Science and knew it would help me.
Although my husband had been in the drug business many years, he was willing for me to try anything that might help me; so I asked a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and in a short time was free from the terrible bondage in which I had been. The physical difficulties were gradually overcome through a diligent study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
This was over ten years ago. I have not taken medicine of any kind since, my health has been good, and I have experienced a greater degree of happiness than I had ever known before. My problems have been many, but Christian Science has met them all; and the regenerative work has been joyous and fruitful. The greatest blessing of all is that I am learning to know God as Principle, a very present help in time of trouble, and applicable to every human need. I am striving to the best of my understanding to follow Jesus, the great Exemplar, and our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who have pointed out for all mankind the way. I must prove my gratitude in my daily living and in working for God. Words are entirely inadequate to express what Christian Science has done and is doing for me.— Boston, Massachusetts.
