I should like to express my gratitude...

From the December 1925 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I should like to express my gratitude for the wonderful revelation Mrs. Eddy's teaching has been to me. It is almost five years since we first became interested in Christian Science. During that time we have had many healings, and in times of stress and anxiety we have experienced a deep sense of security and peace. Trouble which to mortal thought seemed inevitable has passed by, leaving only the gain of a better understanding.

From the beginning of my study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I have had no other physician and have used no material medicine; and we have had abundant proof that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (ibid., p. 494) . There is one healing of which I should like to write more particularly. About a year ago I had a very severe accident. I fell, injuring myself badly. My forearm was broken and the shoulder dislocated, and I was badly scalded. I was unconscious for a few moments, but help was called and a practitioner was with me almost immediately. The sense of pain, which had been intense, subsided under her loving help, and when my arm was examined, about half an hour afterwards, the burn was found to be healed, only some scars remaining. The dislocation adjusted itself during the night; and although it was some weeks before the bones of the forearm knit, I learned during that time that the applied teachings of our revered Leader can control pain. The accident, which at first had seemed so serious, was but an opportunity for proving the wonderful, infallible power of Christian Science. I should like to say again that no material remedies, either surgical or medicinal, were used, my healing being entirely due to an understanding of what spiritual man really is.

I feel I cannot express enough gratitude for all the blessings that have come into my life through Christian Science. For all the love and care of a practitioner, for church membership, and for the fellowship and help that have been accorded to us by our fellow-members, I am indeed grateful.—
