A few years ago, I had a stroke of apoplexy, and at that time we were informed by the physician that if it recurred it would probably prove fatal, or in case of recovery it would be doubtful if I should ever walk again. In the spring of 1922 we took up the study of Christian Science, seeking help for my wife, who had just returned from her fifth visit to the hospital. It has never been necessary for her to return to it for further treatment, as she is gaining an understanding of Christian Science, which is meeting her every need. In the fall of that same year I was stricken with the second stroke. We called a Christian Science practitioner at once, and help was lovingly given. At one time it seemed as if I should pass on; but the practitioner stood firm in the understanding of the truth, so that in a few weeks I was walking around the house and a little later returned to my work. The desire for tobacco was entirely overcome through the assistance given at that time, although I had been an habitual smoker for twenty-five years.
Wonderful proof has been given me of the power of Truth to heal, and words cannot express my gratitude for these blessings, and for our better understanding of God and our relation to Him. I am grateful to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving us "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and for the loving help of a practitioner.— Muskegon, Michigan. A correction was made in the February 21, 192 Sentinel: "In the testimony of Merwin O. Blanchard, which appeared on page 637 of The Christian Science Journal for February, 1925, the name of the city should have been given as Muskegon, Michigan."
