THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

From the February 1925 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Man's unity with God is a fact, but a fact which each must prove for himself. Spiritually discerned, man is the full reflection of God. Lacking nothing, God's man, by his very nature, has divine wisdom, infinite intelligence, and perfect, spiritual understanding. This man, the idea of Truth, the Son of God, requires no system of education, for he is the possessor of all good. The channel through which immortality displaces and replaces mortality, and discord and disease give place to good, is the educational system of Christian Science. The government of this system, its methods of instruction, and the laws by which it functions are set forth in the Church Manual of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, as written by Mary Baker Eddy.

Protecting, supporting, and safeguarding Christian Science education is that impregnable fortress, The Mother Church. Time will add nothing to this educational system, nor subtract anything from it. It is not for the select few, but for all the children of men. It fulfills the prophetic call, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters." The weakest can have all it offers; the strongest can have no more. Every one longing for the unity of good may come to these living waters of Truth, and freely quench his thirst at the open fount that flows in such abundance through Christian Science to the whole world.

The appearing of the unity of good to our revered Leader found expression in the Christian Science movement. All the activities, all the departments of The Mother Church, including the Board of Education, class instruction, and students' associations, are instrumentalities through which the unity of good is expressed. Since all these individual units connected with teaching Christian Science are the manifestation of the united expression of good, it follows that Christian Science classes and Christian Science students' associations not only bless their own membership, but bless all members of this system. All are for each, and each for all.
