SURELY Ezekiel foresaw the coming of the practical, demonstrable Science of Truth when he said: "Son of man, what is that proverb that ye have in the land of Israel, saying, The days are prolonged, and every vision faileth? Tell them therefore, Thus saith the Lord God; I will make this proverb to cease, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel; but say unto them, The days are at hand, and the effect of every vision." Mrs. Eddy discovered the facts of the allness of Spirit and the nothingness of matter; and that was the vision of absolute Science. Moreover, she proved that this absolute Science could be applied to humanity's needs. With her discovery, Ezekiel's prophecy was fulfilled.
On page 123 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy gives the two parts of Christian Science as, first, "the discovery of this divine Science of Mind-healing;" then, second, "the proof, by present demonstration, that the so-called miracles of Jesus did not specially belong to a dispensation now ended, but that they illustrated an ever-operative, divine Principle." Thus vision and its resultant effect, discovery and demonstration, revelation and utilization, must be the order of procedure in liberating mortals from the beliefs incident to mortality.
There have been healing visions of Truth between the time of Jesus and the appearance of Christian Science; but the occasional application of the divine law of healing has probably been through blind faith rather than through enlightened understanding, and, consequently, the effects have been sporadic and impossible of intentional repetition. Now, through the exact rules given us by our Leader, has come the ability to apply the facts of absolute Science to the multitudinous needs of humanity, and to see with scientific certainty the effect longed for by so many throughout the ages.
