Many years ago I was confronted with evil in the form of the drug habit, superinduced by a number of physical conditions which produced great suffering, and for which morphine was given. It was supposed to be hereditary. I was in utter despair. I sought aid of the different schools and systems,—allopath, homeopath, osteopath, electric, magnetic, baths, —but all proved of no avail.
Some one at that time who was seeking a lodging in our neighborhood, and who found me on a couch apparently helpless, hopeless, almost friendless, left with us a Christian Science Sentinel, the reading of which led us to seek the aid of a Christian Science practitioner. Through her loving ministration and elucidation of the divine Principle, rules, and laws of Christian Science, I began to take hold with fresh hope and inspiration. A new era for me began, and I was healed of the habit completely, and of its accompanying ills,—insomnia, loss of appetite, and emaciation, —and became a useful, helpful daughter, wife, neighbor, and supporter of the Cause of Christian Science.
For the past twenty years my entire life has been given over to the service of God and His children, to the feeding of the hungry, the healing of the heart, the comforting of the mourner, in a measure aiding in the destruction of sin and disease. Scripture says, "Unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required;" also, "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne."
