[Written for the Journal]

SERVICE

From the May 1928 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There is a balm for every earthly sorrow,
There is a joy for every tear we shed,
There is a peace that passeth understanding,
If we will as a little child be led.

Oh! let us know our trials are but blessings,
Each test of faith a step towards the goal
Of love that has no lingering thought of selfhood,
But lives in service—manna for the soul.
