I wish to express my deep gratitude for the healing and regenerating power of Christian Science, which was brought to my attention over thirteen years ago by a dear friend. At that time I was discontented, dissatisfied with my concept of God, and very unhappy. I realized immediately that I had found a satisfying religion and a demonstrable Principle, yet I studied and read only spasmodically. I also had treatment from a loving Christian Science practitioner, which resulted in a number of physical healings; but the healing of the restlessness and discontent did not come then. The reason why I made so little progress at first was that I was endeavoring to outline my own desires and to bring them about through Christian Science, instead of yielding my will to the divine. I was still seeking happiness in materiality. I am grateful that I did not find happiness, healing, or contentment until I put the truth into practice and learned to say honestly, "Not my will, but thine, be done." Since learning this lesson, real joy, happiness, health, and the peace "which passeth all understanding" have come into my experience.
I have had many physical healings, some instantaneous, among them the overcoming of ptomaine poisoning, sick headaches, stiff neck, and colds; and I was recently healed in one treatment of nervous exhaustion. My gratitude is unbounded for the purity of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, also for The Mother Church and its activities. My desire is to live my gratitude in daily demonstration of Jesus' words, "Your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you."—San Antonio, Texas.
