When the subject of Christian Science was first brought to my attention, over nine years ago, it appeared to me to be an interesting theory. It was four years later that I was led to seek for something more from it. Several years ago I had to undergo a medical examination, and the doctors diagnosed an internal growth that was considered dangerous and required immediate removal. A few days later I was again examined by the same surgeon, who wished to localize the exact place where the incision would have to be made, and to his great astonishment there was no necessity for an operation as the growth had completely disappeared. I could not account for this then, but I was unspeakably thankful that I did not need to submit to an operation. Later I found that my husband, although at that time not a follower of Christian Science, had written to my mother telling her of my condition and of the impending operation; and undoubtedly the prayer of my mother had been heard. I am deeply grateful to her for so patiently and lovingly showing me the way to Truth, and although my understanding is still small, I am striving to put into practice the teaching that God is Love. With the help of my dear mother I was able to overcome a condition of diseased eyes which a doctor wanted to operate on at once.
At one time I was alone in a strange country, and shortly afterwards discovered that a very valuable ring which had been given to me by my husband was missing. I knew that God's children are honest, and that there is no dishonesty in His kingdom: thus I tried to solve this problem. Eight months later a person brought me back my ring, confessed to having taken it, and begged me to forgive her; and I did so lovingly and gladly.
A little daughter was born to us, and with help in Christian Science the experience was painless. My heart overflowed with calm joy for the beautiful proof of the power of Truth. The child has never had medicine of any kind, and everyone who knows her finds her happy, lively, and healthy.
