It was in the year 1906 that I first became interested in Christian Science through a dear sister's healing of nervous prostration. For a long time I was unwilling to quit my reliance on medicine, and one day I told a practitioner that I was ashamed of my lack of faith in God to heal me without material remedies. He asked me if I had not been educated to depend upon them, and I then saw that it was a case of having been influenced erroneously from childhood. I am thankful to say it is over seventeen years since I took medicine of any kind, my only physician during that time being the truth as revealed by Christian Science.
I have been healed of stomach trouble, constipation, severe colds, headaches, and many minor ailments, as well as the wearing of glasses. In a case of childbirth with uremic poisoning and convulsions, when I was unconscious for two days, my sister had work done for me by a Christian Science practitioner, and a surgeon said he had never seen one so near death recover so wonderfully. It was after this illness that I really went to work in earnest to gain an understanding of God.
My gratitude for Christian Science is unbounded. It has been a glorious privilege to become a member of The Mother Church and a branch church, and to join in the fellowship of rejoicing in the unfoldment of Truth that is going on in consciousness. I shall never forget the wonderful sense of freedom and strength I felt when attending my first Annual Meeting in The Mother Church, and how grateful I was to The Christian Science Board of Directors, the Board of Lectureship, and other active workers in our great Cause. I am grateful for work in the Sunday school, where the dear children accept Christian Science with the simplicity which our Master, Christ Jesus, told us to express. It is my earnest desire to go in the way that he has pointed out, and to show my appreciation of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, by following her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," in daily living.— Watertown, New York.
