Words fail to express my gratitude for the many blessings that have come to me through Christian Science; in fact, it has changed my whole life by changing my thinking, and has given me a sure foundation, something I can depend upon in times of trouble, whether it be sickness or lack of any sort. It is over thirteen years since my family and I found Christian Science, and during that time we have had many proofs of God's loving care. I would not attempt to tell of all the healings we have had; for with a family of five we have had many.
I should like to mention one. My son's right arm was broken while at school. He was brought home, and a doctor set the arm. He told us that it was a very bad break, and that we were not to let the child go back to school for at least two weeks. We called a Christian Science practitioner, and with her loving help the boy went back to school the next day and was able to do all his studies, getting splendid marks, using his left hand for the written work. He did not have any pain, swelling, or inflammation in his arm, and slept peacefully every night. The break healed very quickly. That was one of our first proofs of how powerful the truth is when applied as we are taught in Christian Science.
We have had healings of ptomaine poisoning, pneumonia in a very severe form, the drink habit, St. Vitus's dance, mumps, measles, and blood poisoning. The last-mentioned was very quickly healed, and the one afflicted did not miss a day from his work in the office. The foot was affected and he was on his feet a great deal of the time; but with the loving help of a practitioner we could see the inflammation disappear, and in three days the foot was practically well. All the little ills, such as grippe, sore throat, fever, and headache, have usually been overcome or healed just by realizing that God is All-power, or sometimes by repeating "the scientific statement of being," as found on page 468 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Then, again, the Lord's Prayer, with its spiritual interpretation (ibid., pp. 16, 17), has brought relief and healed the false belief; for there is healing in every right idea when honestly applied.
