"Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me." With all my heart I am grateful to be privileged to testify to the blessings which this passage has brought me.
Three years ago I was attacked one morning by severe pain in the back and stomach, and could not stand upright. I did not take any notice of it, because the pain passed away quickly. Six months later the same thing occurred. Although I had heard of Christian Science I condemned its teaching as a false doctrine. The complaint began to trouble me more often, and material remedies failed to give me relief. In the meantime I heard much good about Christian Science, and I noticed the blessings this teaching had brought to some of my relatives.
Then I turned to Christian Science and began to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the Lesson-Sermons. The word was now in my mouth "sweet as honey." Although the complaint became more and more aggravated I continued to study earnestly. At last, at the beginning of December, 1927, I could no longer work. From every side error suggested that I give up this teaching and submit to an operation. But the words, "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed," gave me great strength and joy. Then I asked for treatment in Christian Science, and this was lovingly given. I knew that now I had to clear away the dross which was preventing me from reflecting God's likeness. Again error took hold of me, but I was healed.
