I send this testimony in sincerest gratitude for the great joy that has come into my life through Christian Science, which came to me over nine years ago, when I was in great need of healing. Eighteen months before this I had begun medical treatment for tuberculosis of the lungs. After living in a hut in the garden for a year, I was told I was better, but my thoughts were so filled with dread of the disease and fear for both myself and my little son that I was soon ill again. My despair increased, and I felt that all joy had gone from me forever; I was sure that I should never be well again.
It was in this hour of bitterness that a friend handed me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Immediately my thoughts were lifted, and during the next week, while I eagerly read the book, all the fear and weariness disappeared, never to return, and I was able to lead a happy, healthy, active life again. How I rejoiced in that glorious freedom! My heart was continually lifted up to God in my great gratitude; my whole outlook on life was changed.
However, for several months a cough remained. Although I was somewhat troubled by it, I never doubted that it would go, and it kept me busy studying to find out more of the truth. I had the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner, and after a time the cough disappeared. I have never feared that disease again, and have had no return of it.
