As one advances in the study and application of the truth as gained through the teachings of Christian Science, given by Mary Baker Eddy in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," one continues to find a deep and ever increasing measure of gratitude to God, the Giver of every good and perfect gift.
Over thirty years ago Christian Science was introduced to us through the healing experienced by a member of our immediate family, after physicians had stated the case to be hopeless. Since that time many and varied have been the opportunities which have offered absolute proof of the healing power of the Christ, Truth. There have been healings of measles, mumps, whooping cough, heart trouble, appendicitis, rheumatism, blood poisoning, sleeping sickness, blindness, a sense of lack, also of separation and loss during the world war. Through these difficulties we were comforted, strengthened, sustained, and blessed.
Two experiences proving the ever-presence and all-power of God stand out as lessons learned while I was a student in the Christian Science Sunday School. One day while I was at play in a swing, a rusty nail entered my side. Sometime later, when I called my mother, a great sense of fear and alarm was shown. I expressed the desire to do the work myself, as I wished to put into practice and to prove the truth, as taught in the Sunday school. My mother hesitatingly asked: "Do you not think it better to wait, to work out a problem of a less difficult nature? This one seems too difficult for you." I then inquired, "Does it make any difference to God?" We both acknowledged the truth of this glorious statement uttered by the Master: "With God all things are possible. "As my mother had been a graduate medical nurse prior to her marriage, advanced symptoms of blood poisoning were recognized, although I was not told so at the time. In less than two weeks, however, the healing was complete and permanent. This healing took place over fifteen years ago.
