IN "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 307) Mrs. Eddy says: "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for to-morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment." What confident hope and joy abide in those who in some measure are realizing the truth of this statement, and who are consequently glimpsing in progressive degree the correlative truth that God's children are even now receiving the supply for every need. Even now may the sustaining presence of our Father-Mother Love be made manifest to human understanding, and with this sustaining shall come also the ability to use wisely that which divine Love provides. The ideal man, forever perfect, forever clothed, fed, and sheltered by God, Spirit, is eternally sustained, regardless of what mortal material sense testimony may claim to the contrary.
True supply does not proceed from any human source, whether it seem to come from employment, by inheritance, or in any other manner. These are but human channels through which whatever is necessary to meet the present need appears to come to us; but they are not the source of sustenance. The one source of all good is God. Supply is spiritual; and in order to become receptive to its ever present abundance, consciousness must be emptied of its false concepts and be filled with the truth. Erroneous thinking, which is but suggestion, must be eliminated so that true, spiritual facts may be entertained in their place. We must endeavor to become constantly conscious that God is ever aware of man's existence, and that man cannot and does not dwell apart from his divine source. In this endeavor, no taint of selfishness must be allowed to tincture our thinking. True, spiritual selfhood must be realized more and more clearly, if we are to advance in understanding and demonstration. To advance thus is truly to walk with God; and all seekers have equal opportunity to attain this companionship, wherein all are equally blessed.
A declaration of the truth has the power of God to enforce, sustain, and maintain it. The Word of God, which goes forth with healing, is protected by divine Love, and is continually present to meet the need. The healing of any form of sickness or sin is a mental transformation, wherein the erroneous sense of things gives place to the eternal facts of harmonious existence, and God is seen to be all presence and all-power. Let there be no lack of love in our thought; for if that be lacking which is of God, then most assuredly will that sense of lack show itself in some phase of discord. Poverty is impoverished thinking, the result of mistaken reliance on the power and ability of material methods and means to supply human needs; but we can rejoice that in Christian Science we are learning that this condition is entirely illusory. It is not of God, and therefore is unreal and should not be entertained in our consciousness.
