Testimonies of Healing

For more than half of my life I...

From the May 1932 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For more than half of my life I have been a student of Christian Science. There has never been a time that a problem has not been solved when this Science has been correctly applied. Some of the healings have been instantaneous, and some have required a longer period of time. I am happy to say that I have never doubted the efficacy of Christian Science to work out any of the problems that have presented themselves. I first heard of Christian Science when a young girl, and accepted it, for it was so logical that I never questioned its power, which is the power of God.

My first healing was that of tonsillitis. From a very small child I had suffered each winter with this difficulty, always going to bed for a week. This condition usually presented itself during the month of February, causing this month to be looked upon with a great deal of dread as each winter approached. Finally it became so serious that each time my throat had to be cauterized, which caused much suffering. There was the continuous suggestion of having the tonsils removed. This, however, was never done. A short time after Christian Science had been brought into our home I became very ill with tonsillitis, my ears this time being in a serious condition as a result of the throat trouble. A practitioner was called, and within a very short time, possibly fifteen minutes, I was completely healed; and this healing has been permanent.

Influenza was overcome after a night had been spent in singing Mrs. Eddy's hymns and repeating the Lord's Prayer and "the scientific statement of being" as found on page 468 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Toward morning, with the first signs of day, I realized I was healed and was able to have breakfast with the practitioner who so faithfully sang with me through the night. My son was healed very quickly of chicken pox and measles, which left no bad effects.
