I am most happy to have had the privilege of being reared in Christian Science and of seeing its healing power proved from earliest childhood. The first healing which occurred in our family was that of my grandmother, who was healed in a few treatments of a condition that had caused her years of suffering and had been diagnosed as incurable by five physicians.
The efficacy of this then new religion was most conclusively shown also in its healing application to a severe case of dropsy manifested by my great-grandmother, a member of the household at the time of the above-mentioned demonstration. From a medical standpoint the trouble was considered hopeless because of its complicated nature and because of the advanced age of the patient, who was past eighty years at the time. Work was taken up in Christian Science and this condition was perfectly healed, so completely, in fact, that she enjoyed life to the age of one hundred and two years. Many proofs of God's love were attendant on these demonstrations, and many problems have unfailingly vanished before the reality of truth.
I am very grateful for my own healings, which are the fruits of prayer such as is described in one of our hymns: "I need not plead, Thou dost abide with me." I could not express enough thanks for what Christian Science brings to daily living for all who claim its love and truth, and I am more and more grateful for having shared in its infinite goodness.—Rockford, Illinois
