I should like to express my gratitude for the healing and blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. My first visit to a practitioner was one of faith and expectancy, for I had tried everything considered worth while. I was mentally depressed and very much discouraged, for I had many diseased conditions, which I was told and believed could never be cured. I had gone through many distressing as well as critical operations, used medicines of all descriptions, tried diet, hygiene, changed surroundings, but none brought relief. Life at times was unbearable. I suffered extremely from catarrhal inflammation of the stomach, bowels, and liver; also from great nervousness, insomnia, and severe headaches.
Since the day of my first treatment, eighteen years ago, I have not taken a drop of medicine. At that time I had material remedies for every ill and never went away from home without them. My healing was slow, but that did not discourage me, for I had nothing to turn back to. I clung to the hope expressed in Psalm 118, "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord." Another Bible reference which I studied daily is also from Psalms, "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." My health now is better than it ever was. I thank God every day for my blessings, and for our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who gave us the unadulterated truth which sets men free. My one great desire is that my daily life may prove me worthy of the name "Christian Scientist." I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, also for class instruction.— Los Angeles, California.
