Testimonies of Healing

From the July 1933 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am sincerely grateful for all the good that has come to me through the study and application of the teachings about God and man's relationship to Him found in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. For the past ten years Christian Science has been my only physician, and during that time I have experienced many beautiful proofs of God's healing and protecting power.

At a time of great need I was divinely led, through prayer, to seek healing by means of Christian Science. For five years previous to this I had been more or less under the care of medical men, specialists in their line; but like the woman spoken of in the fifth chapter of Mark's Gospel, I was "nothing bettered, but rather grew worse." I have the highest respect for these men, and am very grateful for their kind efforts to help me. I was suffering from a very severe case of nose and sinus trouble. There seemed to be a need for a surgical operation to remove obstructions in my nose, but one internationally known physician had advised against such an operation. This left me in a very hopeless condition, and like many others in my great extremity I turned to God as a last resort.

I shall never forget with what joy I read the first sentence from that beautiful chapter on Prayer in the textbook. My thought was filled with hope and a trust in God such as I had never known before. As soon as extreme fear and discouragement were rooted out of my consciousness, the physical healing began to take place.
