Profound gratitude and the help and encouragement I have received from reading other testimonies prompt me to write of help and healings I have experienced through Christian Science.
From my first awakening, I have been grateful to its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy. As the years go by we encounter such opposition in working out our salvation, even with all the rich legacy of her writings, that we realize her praises cannot be sung too often or too sincerely for her ceaseless efforts and untiring, faithful work against all odds to discover this truth which was the basis of the works of Christ Jesus. I am often much encouraged in thinking of how she stood alone with such unfaltering courage in her search for the truth, and then in safeguarding it for all time that mankind might be lifted from woe and despair into health and usefulness.
I was once asked through which one of the synonyms of God as given by our Leader in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" I was brought into Christian Science. I replied that it was "Love," for it came to me through intense desire, which she tells us is prayer, for some spiritual enlightenment, some standard by which to rear two small children. I felt so burdened with responsibility and inadequacy that the yearning "from the mother-heart went out constantly, and when I had attained a small insight into Christian Science I was very sure it was the answer. From the first we had wonderful healings and rich rewards, and we always remember with immeasurable gratitude the practitioner who brought us our first healing and assisted us in getting started in this study.
