I should like to express deep thanks for the many blessings which I have received through Christian Science.
As a child I was ill a great deal, and seemed to be readily susceptible to illness and contagion, and took cold very easily. More than four years ago I turned to Christian Science through friends. With not too much confidence, we were awaiting our little daughter at that time. During this period I was suffering from many difficulties; among other things my face was so swollen that I was quite disfigured in appearance, so I asked a practitioner to work for me. He lovingly introduced me to this wonderful teaching; and after the first conversation with him all difficulties disappeared, including the swollen condition of my face. Then everything went nicely with me the entire time, and I continued to feel well. In spite of what had been prophesied, the birth was entirely normal and harmonious. Our little girl is a living witness to the truth of the teachings of Christian Science, and has never been ill. I thank God daily for His wonderful love.
Through learning that the body, matter, can never feel pain, and that sickness is only a belief, an illusion of mortal mind, I have become quite a different person. I have been able quickly to overcome every sickness presented to me. In 1931 I had an intestinal fistula. The doctor told me that this could be removed only through an operation, for it had already penetrated to the intestine. Through the study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, and through the help of the practitioner, I was able to turn my thoughts entirely away from the necessity for an operation. The practitioner helpfully took up his work at once, and overnight I was freed from the disagreeable suffering. Never again has there been any evidence of it.
