THE POWERS OF DARKNESS—WHAT ARE THEY?

From the March 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The powers of darkness—what are they?
Mere phantoms of thy fear—
Denounce them! They are nothingness,
For God, thy light, is here.

False dreams are they—God made us free;
To us dominion's given.
Vain superstitions fade and flee
Before the hosts of heaven.

Awake from thy mesmeric sleep
One power alone to hail,
For God is All and evil naught—
With Truth thou shalt prevail.

For liberating Love keeps all
Beneath Love's sheltering wings.
Rejoicing in this truth divine,
My heart with rapture sings.
