Testimonies of Healing

We read in the Scriptures, "And...

From the March 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We read in the Scriptures, "And a little child shall lead them." It is with a heart full of gratitude that I tender this testimony to the little child that led me to a Christian Science church, which might be called a temple of gratitude.

Desirous of finding spiritual guidance for my motherless children, I went to a Christian Science church, made the necessary inquiries regarding their enrollment in the Sunday school, and at the close of the interview was invited to attend a service. The invitation was so lovingly and graciously tendered that acceptance was inevitable, despite the fact that I never attended any church. So I went to a Christian Science service. My first visit I count a priceless possession. The readings from the Scriptures were so clearly elucidated by the correlative passages from Science and Health that the truth, resplendent in all its glory, grandeur, and majesty, lay revealed before me. The Master's invitation, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest," could not have fallen upon more responsive ears. Eagerly drinking in every word that fell from the Readers' lips, I felt like one of the Romans whom Paul addressed when he declared, "Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind." That is exactly what happened to me. My thought was renewed, transformed, and I knew what the Master meant when he said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." When that flood of Truth entered my consciousness, one false god after another toppled from its pedestal, and I was quickly freed from many of the ills that the human flesh is heir to. The desire for tobacco and liquors, and a stomach disorder and many other ailments vanished years ago.

By studying the Christian Science textbook I have reaped a rich reward. Its teaching has enabled me to distinguish the real from the unreal, the pure from the impure. It has clearly outlined to me the path of true ease from that of dis-ease and has conclusively proved to me the vast difference between correct and incorrect thinking. For the privilege of sharing in the activities of our branch church, for membership in The Mother Church, and for class instruction, I am profoundly grateful.—
