The healing of my mother, shortly before I was born, marked the advent of Christian Science in our home. It then became our religion, a fact for. which I am now very grateful, because it meant that I was to have the early training and teaching afforded by the Christian Science Sunday School. I desire to give this testimony to show that this early training—the good seed sown in the fertile soil of youth—gives an understanding of Truth that is never lost.
I attended Sunday school until I was about seventeen years old. I turned to Christian Science whenever I was sick, but never gave much thought to the important place that it should occupy in our lives. At this time I yielded to the temptations and allurements of error that mortal mind so cunningly devises, and sought my enjoyment and pleasure in ways contrary to the teachings I had received in Sunday school. I began to smoke and drink, and even fell before the false enticement of baser desires. Gradually I drifted farther and farther away from the truth until, about four years later, I found myself unhappy and discontented. I had learned that a great portion of this so-called pleasure was not satisfying, and that really it was the cause of much trouble. Unhappy in my work, disliking my employer, suffering from rheumatism, and discouraged, I went to a Christian Science practitioner for help and told her my troubles. As a result I was instantaneously healed of the desire to smoke and drink, and of rheumatism. In a very short time I had a new and better position offered to me at an advanced salary. Gradually I began attending church again, and have found the greatest happiness in endeavoring to live and demonstrate Christian Science.
This Science can be relied upon to meet every need. It instantaneously healed me of a severe case of blood poisoning; also of a nervous twitching of the eyes. On two occasions I have found proper employment by relying on Christian Science. Worry, doubt, and fear are constantly being silenced, and more than once this Science has proved to be a help and protection in accidents.
