SINGING

From the May 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wakened with a song,
My heart o'erflowing with the joy of Love.
What matter if the day seemed dark and chill?
I knew the sunshine of God's presence still
Was shining on me from above.

I journeyed with a song,
Sweet consciousness of Truth accompanying me.
What matter if the road seemed rough and steep?
I knew the power of God's love would keep
My footsteps guided right, eternally.

I rested with a song,
Content if faithful found throughout one day.
What matter if my goal still distant seemed?
Through clouds of sense the star of promise gleamed,
Leading to Christ, the Life, the Truth, the Way.
