I am deeply grateful for all the good that has come to me since I took up the study of Christian Science. My wife and I began this study at the same time—another blessing for which we are both very grateful, as we have been able to help each other through many trials of faith.
A short time before we began this study our first child was brought into the world through extreme and prolonged suffering on the part of my wife. The child, after four months of severe suffering from eczema, passed on. His passing left my wife in a state of nervous collapse, from which we were told there was no escape except through an operation. I too had reached a state of extreme nervousness, which manifested itself in fears of every sort and description. My work at the time required the highest degree of accuracy, and my fear of making errors was manifested in my work to such an extent that I lost my position. I consulted doctors, and examinations were made in an effort to discover the cause of my condition. Finally, one of them diagnosed the cause as a dislocated vertebra. In discussing the case he said it might be impossible to correct this condition, and that it might become much worse. Mortal mind then tried to limit my activity greatly by declaring that I should not do anything which would necessitate my assuming a stooping position.
We had some good friends who were Christian Scientists, and although they had not recommended it, we had talked about investigating Christian Science. One day, the thought of Christian Science came to me, and I resolved to begin the study of this subject immediately, to discover for myself if it were possible to be healed thereby. Immediately upon my beginning this study there came to my consciousness a sense of peace and joy such as I had not experienced for years. Within a week I had found a position, and through the use of my meager understanding of Truth I was enabled to render my new employer satisfactory service. My physical condition improved steadily until the healing was complete. My wife was also completely healed of the nervous disorder.
