Testimonies of Healing

From the September 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with sincere gratitude that I should like to tell of a healing of phlebitis which I had over a year ago. It was another opportunity calling for spiritual growth. For about two weeks I was unable to walk, and part of this time I had the privilege of staying at the Benevolent Association Sanatorium at Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, where love and truth are expressed and where we receive the comfort and peace of God. What a blessing it was to be taken down every night in a wheelchair to song service at the chapel, and then to the reception room, where guests are invited to sing and render piano solos! I knew I was healed, as a guest sang about the healing of Jairus' daughter. The condition improved very rapidly, and about a week later I was able to go to a Christian Science lecture in my own city.

I am grateful for this healing, but more so for the spiritual uplifting and growth which were received during this time—it has been a beautiful unfoldment of Truth. During this experience I learned many lessons; one was to forgive as I have been forgiven, for we read in the Sermon on the Mount, "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake." Furthermore, I have learned how to see the perfect man of God's creating, and by so doing I have gained "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding."

I am grateful to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, to our dear Leader, and to the practitioner who stood by faithfully during this experience. I am also grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for class instruction; for the inspiring literature and lectures, and for all the other activities of the church.—
