For twelve years Christian Science has met my every need, for which I am indeed very grateful.
I have been healed of acute bilious attacks, of influenza, and of the results of a severe fall on the back of the head during the time I was reading in church. This occurred on a Saturday night. The street was very steep, and I did not realize that the ground was frozen. I had taken but a few steps when the incident took place. I declared that divine Love was all around me, but I was full of fear. I managed to walk home, and when my husband saw me later he sensed that all was not well. He helped to quiet my fear, and we worked until the very early hours of the morning. I did not sleep, but felt that I must be at church the next morning because there was no deputy Reader. I declared, "Whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself," as Mrs. Eddy says on page 385 of Science and Health.
Going up the church steps that Sunday morning I met the First Reader, who told me to hold on to the statement on page 200 of Science and Health: "The great truth in the Science of being, that the real man was, is, and ever shall be perfect, is incontrovertible; for if man is the image, reflection, of God, he is neither inverted nor subverted, but upright and Godlike." By the time the service was over the large swelling had completely disappeared. After dinner I went to a Christian Science lecture about ten miles away.
