If any parents are disappointed because their children do not appear to be interested in the teachings of Christian Science, I hope they will see this testimony and take heart.
I was sent to the Christian Science Sunday School at the age of two years and a half, but I did not seem receptive to the truth. My progress at various weekday schools was no more satisfactory, and besides this I was not very healthy, being subject to attacks of fainting, chilblains, coughs, and tonsillitis.
At the age of fourteen, while attending a Sunday evening service, I suddenly saw what God is, and understood something of the beauty of holiness. I realized that Christian Science was what I had always wanted. This moment was the turning point of my life. The truth and logic of what I had been taught in Sunday school was revealed, and I realized with enthusiasm that phrases from the textbook which I had regarded as mere cliches were alive with a vital healing and regenerating truth. The physical difficulties to which I had been subject vanished out of my consciousness and disappeared from my body without any particular work being done about them. My school life became happy. I began to find my place on the various teams, and to enjoy my work. College brought fresh opportunities for proving the omnipotence of God. Work in the Christian Science Organization at the university was entered into with gratitude. During this time I had class instruction from a teacher of Christian Science, appreciation for which I feel is best expressed by demonstrating what I was taught during that time. My college career finished, the realization that God has His plan for each of His children opened the way for me to find both my right work and my right home.
