It is with sincere gratitude that I wish to tell of a recent demonstration in our home. About three years ago my husband lost his position, and it became necessary for us to move to a cottage on a beautiful lake in this northern country. During the summer many proofs of God's care and protection were realized, but as winter came on much courage and perseverance had to be exercised, for it was bitterly cold and our supply was none too abundant. But we were grateful for the good at hand, and for the beauty of the still woods; also, we had the opportunity to study.
This wilderness experience was a thorough lesson in complete trust in God, and the words, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding," proved to be a daily help. One day as I was meditating on the right idea of supply—for our need seemed great—I found an article in a Monitor which someone had given to me while I was attending a Christian Science service over forty miles from our home. In this article the subject of praying aright was made very clear to me. The realization came that spiritual ideas and not material food and clothing should be asked for in prayer; for as our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tells us in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 307), "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies." Then I saw that we must pray for wisdom to utilize these ideas properly and to glorify God. The uplifting was so wonderful that I sang all the rest of the day; and it was not a month before our need was met, we changed our location, and rightful activity was experienced.
We moved to a little town near by, and my husband and I are both grateful for the small part we played in the organization of an authorized Christian Science Society here and for our membership in The Mother Church.
