Testimonies of Healing

Having received a great sense of...

From the April 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Having received a great sense of assurance and peace from reading the many testimonies in our literature, I desire to express my deep gratitude for the many healings I have received and am receiving through the study and application of Christian Science. In 1930, having doctored with many physicians, and having followed a very strict diet, I had a stroke of paralysis, which affected my whole right side. While I was lying in the hospital, the doctors giving me little hope of improvement, a dear friend presented Christian Science to me. I eagerly read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and soon insisted on going home and taking up the study of this Science, as I felt so much better while reading the literature. Very soon I asked to see a practitioner, and studied Christian Science in earnest; and in a very short time I was able to perform all my household duties again and eat what I desired.

Through my study I learned that in most of Jesus' healings there was a condition to be fulfilled, and that if we will trustingly assert our dominion over error, and claim our divine heritage, God does the rest. I am deeply grateful for all the blessings that have come to me and mine and all mankind through Christian Science; deeply grateful to God that I was led to this Science; to Christ Jesus, our Exemplar; and to Mrs. Eddy, who so unselfishly shared this great truth with the whole world. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church, for active membership in a branch church, and for the privilege of a trip to Boston, where I visited many places of interest to Christian Scientists.

I am deeply grateful for the protection I feel my boy has while away at college in another state; and to know that he is leaning more and more towards Christian Science. He has experienced wonderful healings and avails himself of Science treatment whenever he seems troubled. I am very grateful for all the activities of the Christian Science movement and am happy to see it grow.—
