THE problem of supply, which has at all times occupied the attention of mankind, is today more than ever in the foreground. While oftentimes it was more or less the affair of the individual, today it is a problem that troubles the whole world. How many people seek in one way or another to master this problem of supply, yet find their efforts vain! They are stranded because they attempt to establish supply on a material basis.
Christian Science points the way out of this labyrinth of human limitation and misery and presents to the world the satisfying solution. It does this by giving humanity a spiritual concept of supply. Christ Jesus, who proved his understanding of supply as no other has done, once said to his disciples, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." From these words it is clear that we must first of all seek to understand the government of God, good, for this understanding alone discloses to us God's infinite abundance.
Christian Science reveals God as the loving Father, who knows and meets all the needs of His children. How does it happen, then, someone may ask, that so much distress and misery still prevail in the world? There is but one answer to the question: It is because humanity is for the most part not yet ready to acknowledge God as the source of all supply, and has not learned to turn to the one infinite source. How many failures and disappointments would be spared us if, instead of fearing poverty and taking merely human footsteps to ensure supply, we immediately entered upon the right path of spiritual thinking, and in all our affairs expressed righteousness and relied on God alone to guide us!
