It is a great privilege to be able to say that through the power of God, as revealed in Christian Science, I have been healed of a severe physical condition, have demonstrated progress in business, and have experienced a large measure of transformation "by the renewing of [ my] mind."
Several years ago I found myself a victim of the carnal mind, manifested in extreme indigestion, chronic stomach and bowel disorders, frequent and severe headaches, loss of many pounds of weight, insomnia, and, finally, a complete nervous collapse which took place in my office. In this condition I was rushed home by a reputable physician in St. Louis, who made two visits that day and pronounced the case a most serious one, beyond the scope of healing through medical means.
I had been a student of the Bible, and while lying on my bed in great pain and despair, I began to think of the many promises in the Scriptures, which, up to the moment, had seemed quite impracticable in this age. However, in my extremity, and after taking many kinds of highly recommended medicines without any satisfactory results, I told my wife not to get the doctor's prescriptions filled; that I was going to prove the statement of the Psalmist that God "forgiveth all thine iniquities; . . . healeth all thy diseases." She thereupon burst into tears and thought I had become demented.
