About seven years ago, while we were going through the so-called depression, I had a lodginghouse upon which we depended for our livelihood. One room did not rent readily, and I visited a Christian Science practitioner one afternoon to gain help on supply. When I left her office, the one thing I remembered from my visit was a sentence she had quoted: "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." I felt very lighthearted, and sang the words of our Master over to myself, clinging to each word.
When I arrived home my husband met me at the door and said, "There is a woman upstairs who would like to see you about the room you have for rent." After talking with her I found that we were both members of the same branch church, and she stated that she had been trying all day to find the right place, and the moment she stepped into our house she knew she had found it. A happy friendship commenced, and we both received much help from each other during the time she lived in my house.
Two years later, when I was managing an apartment house, I became bedfast, because of tetanus, from which I had been suffering, and this dear friend took me to her home for ten days, and lovingly cared for me.
