For the many blessings and healings which have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science, I am most happy to give this testimony of gratitude.
I bought my first copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, hoping to learn something of the teachings of Christian Science. Needless to say, with my thought open, and searching for God, I found comfort and soon learned that material pleasures were powerless to bring me happiness. Soon after purchasing the book I returned to China, where I resided. I firmly believed that Science and Health would show me the way to happiness and contentment, for I was not contented to live in a country away from my friends. The Bible had always seemed to me to be merely a history of ancient times and people; I did not know then, as I do now, that the Christian Science textbook was to open the Bible for me, and give me an understanding of the spiritual meaning of the promises in the Bible. Since that time, and during the years of seeming confusion, I have found through Christian Science the greatest happiness I have ever known.
I have had many proofs of God's loving care for His children, and peace and comfort came to me at a time when a loved one passed on. Through the study of our textbook, while residing abroad, I had many healings, including those of heart trouble, which physicians had pronounced incurable, and of intestinal ailments, for which doctors could only recommend relief through an operation. I proved also that I was able to live in localities pronounced by doctors to be unhealthy for me, showing that it was not the climate which had made me a sick woman. With these healings many bad habits also were overcome simply through my study of our textbook. I relied on the words of our Leader in Science and Health (p. 138), "The Christian can prove this to-day as readily as it was proved centuries ago."
