OUR beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in the Church Manual (Art. VIII, Sect. 6), wisely admonishes us to defend ourselves "daily against aggressive mental suggestion." None but the alert Christian Scientist knows how to estimate properly the importance of this admonition.
How readily do we give credence to suggestions of evil—sometimes given currency through the press or over the radio—instead of immediately rejecting them as lies against God, good! We defend ourselves against the suggestions of a power opposed to God by realizing the omnipresence and omnipotence of the one Mind, and the nothingness of evil—by knowing that only God and His ideas are real.
How masterfully our great Exemplar, Christ Jesus, rejected suggestions in whatever guise they appeared! In Matthew we read that after his baptism by John the Baptist, Jesus rose straightway out of the water and heard a voice from heaven saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
