I did not begin the study of Christian Science...

From the June 1939 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I did not begin the study of Christian Science on account of ill-health, but because the riddle of existence seemed insoluble and unreasonable in every way. I prayed for enlightenment. I had been brought up to read the Bible, but the beauty of its promises had almost pained me because, I argued, if these promises were not fulfilled on earth, how could one be sure that they would be fulfilled in heaven?

In our inspired textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 1), "Desire is prayer." My prayer was a desire to find Truth, and this was answered by Christian Science. After I had been directed to the textbook as the best way of learning about this Science, I realized that it explained Life and the universe as natural, true, and provable, and I began to find the solution of the riddle of existence.

The succeeding years have brought joy, freedom, and a good standard of health. The following healings have been waymarks to progress and to a clearer understanding.
