Perturbed about the wickedness of others,
Men thought their punishment was gospel truth;
'Twas vain to think of sinful men as brothers,
For erring ones they had not any ruth.
Small was their saintly group assured of heaven,
For sinners there was only hopeless hell;
But Jesus' words have been the sacred leaven
Transforming men from fear and thoughts so fell.
And many now are calling God "our Father,"
Rejoicing in the mercy they have known,
And willing the Almighty One shall gather
The lost ones home and name them as His own.
Now fades away the pride that's pharisaic,
Men look on other men with kindly eyes;
No more divide as clerical and laic,
One only God they worship, and are wise.
Reborn by healing shall be men and nations;
Wisdom in saving will be justified,
And there shall come, divinely, transformations,
For no good gift shall be by God denied.
