Christian Science came to me when I felt a great need to know that God is an ever-present help and that the religion of Love, as taught and lived by Christ Jesus, the Wayshower, is not an empty theory.
When the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, was lent to me and I had read the chapter on Prayer, I knew my prayers had been answered, for I found myself expressing peace and joy instead of doubt and confusion.
The first immediate healing I experienced was the overcoming of chronic constipation, which had afflicted me since I was a small child. A loving practitioner told me that my heritage was only good, and that, because Mind governs all action, it must be harmonious. During a few weeks' treatment I was also healed of acute indigestion, and there has never been a return of either of the discordant conditions. These healings took place more than twenty years ago.
